AI products are shipping faster than the rules meant to govern them.

Where product design and the law intersect.

Governance frameworks are written by lawyers. Products are shipped by designers and engineers. Almost nobody sits fluently in both rooms. But I do.

I work with product and design teams to translate AI governance requirements into decisions a designer or engineer can actually build. Not a compliance memo, but a tangible set of product design recommendations.

❋ Enterprise Software AI Expertise

I spent 14 years at Microsoft where I worked with data scientists to build one of Microsoft’s first generative UX products, Chart Designer in Excel. I also led design for agents in Copilot Notebooks.

❋ Certification in Law + AI from UC San Francisco.

Product liability can start and end with product design. I help ensure your AI and product design decisions are legally sound.

❋ Scenario-Based Engineering + JTBD

Using the Jobs To Be Done Framework, we use stories and goals of real people to guide our design decisions and formulate strategy recommendations.

❋ Human-Centered Design

I hold an MFA in Design from the University of Washington. Using human-centered design methodologies combined with AI governance expertise, I can help ensure your product does no harm. Good design is, among other things, legal!

Your team is shipping an AI feature. Legal read the regulation. Design has never seen it.

That gap is where risk actually lives. Not in the policy document, in the interface. A disclosure that never renders. A recommendation with no way to contest it. A model output with no record of how it was reached.

This is for product and design leaders who need that gap closed before it becomes a legal problem, a press problem, or a user-trust problem, and who want it closed in language their team can act on.

A pilot: one feature, two weeks, a plan you can hand to engineering.

  • A more moral AI is not enough if that morality is determined by a few,

  • We need to advocate for a better system of checks and balances to test AI for bias and fairness, and to help businesses determine whether certain use cases are even appropriate for this technology at the moment.

  • If AI is to be powerful, it must be governed; if it is to be trusted, those who build it must be accountable.
